PATTERNED PEACEKEEPERS

Patterned Peacekeepers is a sculptural diptych composed of two handcrafted wooden AK-47 replicas, intricately hand-painted with a labyrinthine pattern in silver and black. This artwork juxtaposes the iconography of conflict with the meditative precision of ornamentation. By transforming a universal symbol of violence into a decorative artifact, the artist challenges viewers to reconsider the narratives we assign to objects of power.

The repeated patterns reference both tribal symbology and urban graffiti, evoking cultural dualities and a search for identity within chaos. The silver palette, traditionally associated with value and purity, contrasts with the object’s original function — turning an instrument of destruction into a surface for contemplation.

This piece invites dialogue on disarmament, recontextualization, and the potential for beauty to emerge from the darkest forms.
