CONCRETE DONUTS SERIES

In this series, Pattern Boy transforms discarded construction-site concrete into one of the most recognizable symbols of pop culture: the donut. But beneath the playful surface lies something far more layered than irony.

The donut is a symbol of pleasure, repetition, and cultural ubiquity. Its circular form evokes cycles, rituals, and the ancient symbol of wholeness. Yet, cast in raw concrete, the object becomes heavy, industrial, enduring. What is usually soft and sweet is now dense and eternal — a fossil of consumer culture.

Pattern Boy’s signature markings turn the donut’s surface into a coded language — rooted in graffiti, echoing eyes, signs, pictograms, like those found on the walls of modern ruins. The piece feels like an artifact of the street, embedded with memory and rhythm.
